Peru Public Library will be serving as a site where trained volunteers will prepare basic income tax returns free of charge every Monday and Thursday, February 13 – April 12, 2012 between the hours of 9am and 2:15pm. An appointment is required, and can be made by stopping in or calling the library at 815-223-0229 (ext.10)

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service and the Illinois Department of Revenue have announced that they will discontinue mailing individual tax packages to taxpayers. These tax packages contained the forms, schedules, and instructions for filing paper tax returns.

The Peru Public Library has begun receiving some of the 2011 tax forms, please stop in as the availability changes daily.
A limited quantity of the most popular tax forms and instructions will be available at the library. Printouts of forms/instructions can be made by patrons on library computers, or if you do not have a library card or need assistance library staff will help provided you know the form number required. Printouts are $.20 per page.

Please be aware that the library is not responsible for any information that is lost during the process and that the library staff cannot help with tax information. Library staff cannot recommend tax filing software or websites.
